Individuals of an Italy-based clan of thieves who stole over £1.2m valued of goods, including from former Newcastle United forward Isak, have been mandated to return just £1 per person.

Brothers Valentino and Giacomo, their sister Jela and her child Charlie Jovanovic journeyed to the northeastern of England to burgle three houses in April 2024.

The group of four were jailed for from six and 10 years in 2025.

At a criminal assets proceeding at Newcastle Crown Court, Jela Jovanovic and the brothers Nikolov were instructed to repay £1 per person while Charlie must hand over £1,135.

Details of the Burglaries

The judge was told the group arrived by boat in the UK on March 27, 2024 and employed a RV as their "base of operations", which they stationed at a service area and Durham service service stations while using another car to scout out properties and execute burglaries.

On 31 March they took more than £1m of items including designer clothing, handbags, jewellery and a honor from a house on a street in Jesmond, Newcastle, while the residents were away.

The following night, the crew broke into a home on a gated cul-de-sac in Whitburn, and stole designer handbags, valuables and footwear valued at more than £100,000.

After scouting out Newcastle United's facility for 48 hours, they then acted at the residence of Sweden striker Alexander Isak in Darras Hall on 4 April, stealing ten thousand pounds in money, sixty-eight thousand pounds worth of jewellery and the player's one hundred twenty thousand pound Audi RS6.

The group, who were portrayed by the prosecution as professional itinerant burglars, used gloves and face coverings, switched their phones off as they neared their targets and attached a number plate, which had been stolen from a garage in a town, on to their vehicle with elastic bands.

They were apprehended in the Birmingham area on 13 April.

Court Proceedings and Rulings

Valentino had denied the burglary plot but was convicted by the court, while his family members had all submitted admissions to the same charge.

At the criminal gains session, lawyer Daniel Cordey said every one of the burglars had profited from their offenses to the value of over £1.2 million, which was based on what the affected parties said they had lost.

But Charlie Jovanovic was the only one deemed to have any funds that could be "realised", specifically £1,135.50 which had already been seized by police, the judge was informed, with two weeks to be spent in jail if he failed to pay.

The remaining members had no assets or assets so were directed to make a nominal fee of £1 per person, with seven days in incarceration the consequence if the money was not paid.

Judge Robert Spragg said if they were found with assets in the future, "for example operating in Italy in a sports car or owning a home", prosecutors could seek further action to "recover the amount outstanding".
